Dog Days In The Northeast Kingdom

Dog Mountain is a unique and beloved destination in Vermont that offers visitors a chance to connect with nature and their furry friends. Located in St. Johnsbury, Dog Mountain is a 150-acre property that features hiking trails, scenic views, and a dog-friendly chapel - the perfect place for you and your pup.

The property was originally purchased by artists Stephen and Gwen Huneck, who envisioned a place where dogs and their owners could connect with nature and art. Stephen Huneck's whimsical dog-themed artwork is prominently featured throughout the property, adding to the playful and fun atmosphere.

Highlights of Dog Mountain are the hiking trails that wind through the property, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trails are suitable for all skill levels and are open year-round, allowing visitors to enjoy the changing seasons in Vermont.

In addition to its natural beauty and dog-friendly attractions, Dog Mountain is also home to several events throughout the year, including a popular pup party in August that features live music, food vendors, and dog-friendly activities. Be sure to stop at the road-side farmstand on your way back to the Inn, and enjoy seasonal specialties including cider, jams, jellies and homemade chocolate.

We love hosting our guests and their furry friends here at The Village Inn. We have 4 Rooms that are Pet Friendly, and highly encourage our guests traveling with their canine companions to visit Dog Mountain on their next trip to East Burke.
